Ferry
Service to Charity Island aboard the 50 foot
passenger vessel "Northstar" will run through Labor Day weekend, 2005 for dinner
cruises, and possibly the first two weekends in October.
Departures
for day trips will be from Brown's Landing in
Tawas,
Michigan, aboard
the 30 passenger "Miss Charity Isle". Brown's
Landing is located 20 minutes North of Augres on Highway U.S. 23
The 1
hour cruise to Charity Island will include a tour of the newly rebuilt
LightKeepers Home and three hours to explore the three miles of shoreline and
two miles of nature trails.
Bring a box
lunch and enjoy your meal on the porch of the LightKeeper's Home.
Other
points of interest include the LIght Tower built in 1857, a gift shop, the
Island's ten acre inland lake, endangered plants and flowers, Bald Eagles, and a
unique Archeological site that is spread over half of the island.
